Mike Biegler – Owner & COO

Mike is an owner of Big Step Construction and serves as Chief Operating Officer. He grew up working in construction and remodeling and later spent five years in the roofing industry, gaining hands-on experience in roofing, siding, gutters, and residential systems.

At Big Step, Mike oversees production coordination, crews, materials, inspections, and permits, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and correctly. He takes pride in building strong systems and a team that values quality, accountability, and doing things the right way.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary, and their son, Vincent. He also enjoys games like pool, cornhole, chess, and poker.

Sam Brox – Owner & CEO

Sam is an owner of Big Step Construction and serves as Chief Executive Officer. He was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, and brings a strong passion for building, design, and problem-solving to the company.

Sam spent five years in the roofing industry, developing a solid foundation in residential construction. At Big Step, he focuses on leadership, systems, and supporting the team to ensure projects run smoothly and customers have a clear, positive experience.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and building LEGO sets. He also enjoys watching sports and playing board games.

Nate Johnson – Sales & Project Manager

Nate joined Big Step Construction in December 2023 as part of the Sales and Project Management team. He works closely with homeowners to guide projects from planning through completion.

Nate values clear communication and problem-solving, helping ensure clients feel confident and informed throughout the construction process.

Outside of work, Nate enjoys spending time with his two sons and staying active. He also enjoys woodworking, reading, and getting outdoors whenever possible.

Cole Hottovy – Carpenter

Cole is a carpenter at Big Step Construction, joining the team in Fall 2024. He studied Building Construction Technology at Southeast Community College and brings a strong background in hands-on woodworking and residential construction.

Cole specializes in detail-oriented work, with a particular focus on trim and finish carpentry. He takes pride in quality craftsmanship and approaches every project with precision and care.

Outside of work, Cole enjoys woodworking projects and building custom pieces. He values seeing homeowners’ visions come to life through thoughtful, well-built spaces.
